Farin Ashouian, Grade 9, Carson Graham Secondary :

Q: How do you fit reading into your schedule?

A: Every night or on the weekend.

Q: What's your ideal reading environment?

A: Outside, in a cafe with coffee, or in my bed.

Q: What is your favourite genre and why?

A: Romance, Fantasy and Dystopian, but honestly, it depends. The genre doesn't really matter, it's more the quality of the book and the content and the way it was written.

Q: How do you get out of a reading slump?

A: I delete social media for a bit and find a fast-paced book.

Q: Where do you go for reliable/trusted book recommendations?

A: GoodReads or I watch booktubers.

Q: If you could meet any author, who would it be and why?

A: Emily Henry or Lynn Painter, because they seem nice and I like their books.

Q: What is your current read?

A: I just finished Midnight Library, and I'm going to start Billy Summers.

Q: What books on your TBR (To Be Read list) are you most excited to read?

A: Fourth Wing because I got the edition with the cool cover and additional content.

Q: Do you read one book at a time, or do you have multiple books on the go?

A: One at a time, any more is a crime.

Q: What is your favourite book adaptation to film or TV? Why?

A: Hunger Games because they captured the emotion.

Q: How did you choose your Teen Reads 2025 book? Why should other teens read the book?

A: I chose it based off which book I actually would get excited to read, and I think other teens should get excited over it too.

Q: Share a quote from your Teen Reads 2025 choice

A: “I spent my life folded between the pages of books. In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”

Book synopsis:

Ostracized or incarcerated her whole life, seventeen-year-old Juliette is freed on the condition that she use her horrific abilities in support of The Reestablishment, a postapocalyptic dictatorship, but Adam, the only person ever to show her affection, offers hope of a better future.
